The style of cot/bassinette has not changed very much in the last 40-50 years, plastic cases in fixed metal frames.

Given that people are all different heights and sizes it was decided that we needed to look at something more practical and comfortable. The NICU has purchased some height adjustable twin cots  for this reason, they are an advantage to both parents and staff. Many people find  leaning over a cot uncomfortable and especially mothers who have had a caesarean section. 

It is thought that if we show that this more modern single cot is beneficial then the Neonatal service may look at investing in more for the future.

For this reasoning the Trust has purchased our first single adjustable height cot with added drawer. The New Oostwoud Infant Cradle.
